UBER PLANARITY

Uber Planarity is a mass timber structure that utilizes a combination of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) plates, and Glulam beams/columns. As a response to a narrow site shape, the mid-rise project takes advantage of the planar quality of CLT plates that span within the longer direction.

Based on a 10‘x10’ grid system, the lower floors get evenly spaced columns to maximize open spaces in public programs like retail, community gym, and lounges. On the other hand, the higher floors use the same grid for CLT shear walls to maximize privacy and room count for residential use.

BEAM DEPTH EFFECT

Glulam Beams are varied in depth between public and private floors to highlight spatial compression and expansion based on program and use. This results with rich experiences as one navigates through the building.
