Nesting Comfort applies the concept of Cooling Artifact at a housing scale. Through the nesting of three different layer systems, the building produces unique spaces between layers and brings the concept of “living between walls” into life.

The concept is imagined as an adaptive reuse project that takes a conventional home to add two layers of steam and blinds to create desirable natural light qualities at desert climates. Users will have full control of the steam amount and blind directionality to achieve the ideal lighting condition based on sun angle and time of day.

THE NESTING EFFECT

As different layers nest into each other, the remaining spaces become unique in size, shape, and width to enrich the experiences of users. Through variations in width, the in-between spaces and nooks each provide unique experiences and light condition.
